Council School Authority in Prešov originated on 1.1.2004 by Act no. 596/2003 Z. z. the state administration in education and school self-amending and supplementing certain laws as amended. It is a body of local government in education. In fulfilling its mission of working with the founders of schools and educational institutions, government bodies, government and other institutions Presov region.
Council School Authority in Prešov is founded a bilingual school, an elementary school, 12 centres, educational-psychological counselling and prevention, 13 centres, special-educational counselling, a re-education centres, 38 elementary schools for learners with special educational needs and 11 kindergartens for children with special educational needs, 13 practical schools, 9 vocational schools, 3 vocational schools with disabilities.

Council School Authority in Prešov, apart from the founding perform tasks even further action - provides funding of schools and school facilities in the region, controls the efficiency of funds allocated for schools founded, performs in the main provision of other activities and tasks of municipalities and autonomous region in the Education and issued guidelines for schools and for its own founders of other schools in the region.
